I’ve got a small but fun RVTS improvement to share with you. As of yesterday, August 31, reviews on Travel Scout can include bold, italicized, or linked text. This is awesome for those times when you really want to add some strong emphasis to your meticulously crafted commentary. Maybe you want to highlight the supremely beautiful landscape of a particular RV park. Or call out a service center that provided you with genuinely outstanding service. You might also want to include a useful link. This just happened to me the other day when I wrote my review of Reverends Ridge Campground in Colorado’s Golden Gate Canyon State Park. I wanted my review to include a link to the RVTS entry for the horribly washboarded road that leads to the park’s entrance. At the time, it wasn’t possible and I found myself suddenly inspired to hurry up and get this enhancement in place as quickly as possible.

Here’s how it works

Formatting your text is easy. All you need to do is surround your text with some special characters, like this:

You’ll see the special characters while you’re writing your review. The formatting is applied after you submit it. Why not until after it’s submitted? Entirely because it was easier and faster to build it this way. I figured useful-but-slightly-nerdy formatting today was better than a fancy editor someday down the road.

And don’t worry about memorizing these special characters. Every RV Travel Scout review form has a cheat sheet directly below it, like in the screenshot below.
