Travel Scout
I know, I know. There are already a MILLION other websites that allow RVers to submit reviews of RV parks. There’s also Yelp, Google, and TripAdvisor. So why bother create something brand new? The answer is simple. I wanted something better than all those other tools. I wanted a tool that better catered to all aspects of RV life—not just finding a decent campground. That’s just one slice of the pie. I also want to be able to find gas stations that won’t spike my blood pressure and service centers that will actually return my phone calls. I want a crowd-sourced database of roads that aren’t safe for RVs and the ones that have been recently repaved. User forums and Facebook groups are filled with requests for that kind of information, but as far as I’m aware there’s never been a systematic attempt to collect it all in a single place. And these are just a few of the inadequacies I’ve found across all the available RV review sites currently available. My dream is to make Travel Scout the everything-for-RVers platform people trust as their go-to companion for life on the road.
Me. Nick Spreitzer. I’m a director of software engineering at a cyber security company and avid RV traveler. My wife Jill and I own a 2024 Airstream Flying Cloud Office and spend about three or four months each year traveling around the country, working as we go. Jill is an automation engineer, which means she writes software that automatically tests other software. We’re both extremely fortunate to work for companies that continue to support fully remote workforces despite current ‘return to office’ trends.
The ideas behind Travel Scout date back to mid-2021, when I was just an RV rookie. I was originally going to call it Happy Camper Reviews and even bought the happycamper.reviews domain. Later I decided that “happy camper” was too generic for my taste and settled on RV Travel Scout instead. I bought rvtravelscout.com on June 5, 2023 and began development of the site shortly thereafter. Unfortunately, due to a variety of other obligations and commitments—not least of which is my day job—there were long stretches of time where the project was basically abandoned. At one point, I came very close to quitting and deleting everything I’d done so far. I just didn’t have the time and hated wasting all the money I spent on server and tooling costs. Thankfully my wife dissuaded me. Eventually I got back on horse, determined to get Travel Scout over the finish line.
As of December 2025, RV Travel Scout is in its earliest stage of release. Even though it’s publicly available and open to registration, it’s not quite ready for prime time. I’m working as fast as I can to smooth out the rough edges and get it ready for everyday use by spring 2026.
Travel Scout is completely free. Registration is required in order to write reviews, save favorites, or submit new listings, but registration is free and easy. Click here to create an account now!
Two-factor authentication is not required on RV Travel Scout. However, we strongly encourage you to use it for two reasons. First, to protect you. Second, to protect us.
I get it. It’s an annoying extra step and many websites similar to Travel Scout don’t even offer this extra security protection. Even though the information stored on this site could hardly be considered “sensitive”, hackers are everywhere and they’re constantly trying to break into anything they can. Some do this for monetary gain, others just to wreak havoc. Believe it or not, even though Travel Scout is relatively new, our logs are filled with brute-force attempts to gain unauthorized access. If any of these attempts were ever successful, at minimum it would result in a giant mess. Hackers could delete data or deface the website or insert spam or do any number of other bad things.
That all said, the choice to use 2FA here is entirely yours to make.
Profile badges are bestowed on travel scouts who play special roles within the RVTS community. Right now we have three of them, but more may be added in the future. Here’s what each one means:
- Founding Scout: This honor is granted to members who meaningfully contributed to Travel Scout during our earliest days. It’s a rare distinction reserved for people who created an account and shared at least five reviews. Eligibility for this badge will end once the founding phase of RV Travel Scout comes to a close.
- Moderator: Moderators help keep the RV Travel Scout community running smoothly. They review content, assist members, and step in when needed to maintain a respectful and helpful environment.
- Verified Business Owner: Indicates that the member has been confirmed as the owner or authorized representative of a business listed on RV Travel Scout. Verification helps ensure that business information is accurate and that you’re interacting with someone who is directly connected to the location.

⭐⭐⭐ Fair — Got what you paid for
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Worthwhile — Good value for the money
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Outstanding — Exceeded expectations for the price
💡 A Note on Overall Ratings
Your overall rating should reflect your total experience, but these categories help you explain why.
A service center might:
• Do great work but communicate poorly
• Be expensive but still worth it
• Take a long time but meet expectations
Breaking it down helps other RVers make better decisions.
