Kootenai River Campground appeals to RV travelers who want easy access to northwest Montana’s public lands with the convenience of a riverfront base close to town. Set along the Kootenai River about two miles west of Troy on US Highway 2, the park sits within the Kootenai National Forest, putting fishing, hiking, backpacking, kayaking, OHV trails, and hunting within quick reach—without the national-park crowds. Most RV sites are pull-through full hookups, and the park also offers a handful of wooded back-in sites with 30-amp electric and water; those include one complimentary dump-station use on departure. Several sites are shaded, others sunny, and all include a picnic table and fire pit, with restrooms, showers, and Wi‑Fi included. Travelers who value certainty can use the optional Lock Site feature to reserve a specific site, and 50‑amp full-hookup sites are available.
RV check-in runs 2:00–9:00 pm Mountain Time (no late check-ins), quiet hours are 10:00 pm–8:00 am, generators aren’t allowed except during park-wide outages, pets must be leashed, and each RV site allows one RV plus one tow vehicle. The season typically runs May 15–October 15, with potential shoulder-season flexibility depending on weather.
