Monarch at the Crest is a worthwhile stop at the top of Monarch Pass, with a large parking area that can accommodate RVs and other oversized vehicles. More than just a scenic pullout, the visitor center has a substantial gift shop along with cooked-to-order food, making it a good place to take a real break rather than simply stretch your legs. The location also offers impressive views from the Continental Divide and easy access to the Monarch Crest Scenic Tram when it’s operating. Whether you’re looking for a meal, souvenirs, mountain views, or just some room to park the rig for a while, this is one of the more useful stops along US-50.

Super cool place to take a break! The burritos were amazing. Lots of fun stuff in the gift shop. Bathrooms in good shape. Parking lot is huge and easily accessible from the highway. That said, the lot has seen better days. Lots of ruts and pot holes, but nothing you can’t maneuver around. Plenty of space to park rigs of any size. I will never be able to drive past here without stopping for a snack.
