My 5 stars is for the experience alone. It’s a traditional state park, so not luxury. That said, Caprock is worth the visit, particularly if you are needing a stop for a night. I wouldn’t spend more than 2 nights if you plan to have activities to fill each day. The park isn’t large, but the proximity to the bison, canyon trails, prairie dogs, etc. was fantastic. As a Dallas city dweller, it was nice to break away from the concrete jungle. The nights cool down considerably, so early morning hikes are the best.

My only negative note—there are no sewer hookups and the dump station does not allow a flush/rinse hose. I had to find a dump station on the way back to DFW that would allow me to flush.
