Beautiful park. Very quiet and serene. Close to Ridgway and Ouray, both of which are fun small towns to visit. Be sure to check out the Bachelor Syracuse Mine tour. Good, inexpensive fun. We stayed in site 263 in the G Loop. We were completely isolated from traffic noise, which I don’t think is true of the other loops. Instead, we got to listen to the glorious sound of the creek which was right behind our site! Unfortunately, it was tough to get a good view of the creek due to trees and brush in the way. If fishing is your thing, there are lots of trails that get you close to the water. There’s lots of room to walk around the campground, but only one “real” trail: The Enchanted Mesa Trail, which will take you to Ridgway’s other campgrounds. If you’re a runner, this trail was excellent that purpose. Except for two very steep points, I ran this trail multiple times during our stay. Easy to get 7 miles in, and you get grand views of the reservoir the entire way. There were no tall trees that interfered with Starlink, so we got a perfect signal. Our picnic bench was pretty beat up and probably should be replaced soon, but we were still able to use it. The laundry room here is excellent! Three washers, three dryers, and huge tables to fold your clothes. Just be forewarned: if you’re facing the row of dryers, the one on the far left sucks at drying. Use high heat. We didn’t use the showers, but they looked okay. (Meaning, if we didn’t have a sewer hookup, I wouldn’t have minded the camp showers.)
