Absolutely loved this park. We stayed in the Lakeview loop, site 12. (If you promise not to tell anyone else, I’ll let you know that site 12 is the best one. Wooooonderful views from your patio, unobstructed by other trailers.) There are no tall trees here, which means perfect Starlink signal but little shade. We appreciated the great internet since we worked during our stay, but the heat made us yearn for more shade. That said, it’s great that most (all?) of the sites here have covered picnic tables. That alone provided a good amount of protection from the sun. We didn’t use the camp bathrooms or showers much, but they seemed on the nicer end of the spectrum for a state park. Even though the reservoir level was very low, it still made for a beautiful landscape. It’ll be interesting to come back in the future and see what it looks like when the water level is normal. When we first arrived, I wasn’t sure there would be enough roadway for longer distance running, but I was able to run a little over 7 miles without repeating much. You can see the route I took in my included pictures. There are some relatively steep hills, but overall it was flat enough that it didn’t completely wipe me out. The last thing I’ll mention is that the entire park is wonderfully peaceful and quiet. When I opened our door in the mornings, you could hear a pin drop. I loved it.

If you’re looking for groceries, gas, restaurants, or other such things, it’s probably a 20 minute drive in to Rifle and you’ll find pretty much anything you need.
